The history of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan is well documented, not least in the various reform plans developed over the past 15 years. FATAs unique constitutional history, conflict and an enduring lack of interest in development of successive governments have contributed, over time, to a worsening of human and economic development status relative to the rest of the country. Starting 2008, increased militancy in the region saw over 300,000 families displaced from their homes and communities. The human cost of these has been immense: currently, FATA has an annual growth rate of 2.19%, a National Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index of 19.7%, adult literacy rate of 33.3% (compared to 58% for Pakistan) and head count poverty rate of 52.3%.
As the return process concludes, FATAs weak economy and high levels of unemployment remain one of the main factors of instability in the region. Revitalising livelihoods, providing for local economic recovery and creating jobs and inclusive growth for the long-term, is one of UNDPs key priorities in FATA over the next two years.
Under the overall guidance of the M&E Specialist, the Reporting Officer for FATA Economic revitalisation Programme will be responsible for timely and quality of report on the outputs, outcomes of the programme and expected to support the overall functioning of the Monitoring and Evaluation component to ensure effective and efficient results.
Summary of key functions
The Reporting Officer will work under the guidance and supervision of the M&E Specialist and in collaboration with project team members, and implementing partners. S/he will be responsible for timely and quality of report on the outputs, outcomes of the project and expected to provide support to the M&E Specialist in the overall management of the component.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
Ensure periodical reporting of the progress and documentation of lessons learnt and case studies
Assist M&E Specialist to ensure the effective and efficient monitoring and evaluation
Performs any other duties as requested
1. Ensure periodical reporting of the progress and documentation of lessons learnt and case studies
- Prepare regular reports on activities, outputs and outcomes and extract relevant reports as required;
- Liaise with UNDP Country Office (CO) for all reporting and coordination under the guidance of National Project Coordinators;
- Assist in the preparation of success stories and other communication items;
- Identify and document lessons learned and case studies including critical success factors, opportunities for improvement.
- Integrate project M&E reporting with UNDP CO web-based corporate tools;
- Assist in developing monitoring plans for ensuring that activities/events are properly scheduled and carried out with Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist;
- Oversee project activities with special focus on community resilience activities including development of concept notes;
- Assist in evaluation missions, preparation of Terms of Reference
- Perform any other duties as requested.
The key results will have an impact on the success of quality of report and efficient implementation, timely delivery of the outputs and effective monitoring of the programme activities the overall quality implementation of the programme in the target areas.

Expertise in UNs development and humanitarian activities, particularly in the context of FATA.
Excellent knowledge of project management, monitoring, reporting and evaluation;
Excellent inter-personal communication skills;
Ability to work under stress and to multi-task;
Acting as a team player and facilitating team work;
Excellent skills in technical report writing;
Ability and willingness to travel to local areas with basic travel facilities;
Positive attitude with a mind-set to deliver development services in a professional manner;
Self-development and initiative taker;
Work experience with UN is preferred.
At least 01 year of relevant experience in M&E and Reporting of development projects.
Background in the analysis of socio-economic issues and related policy matters. Experience in conducting multi-dimensional assessment in a post disaster environment. Experience in the usage of computer and office software packages. Experience in handling of web based management systems. Experience coordinating field monitoring. - Knowledge of the development context in FATA and working FATA would be an asset.
Fluency in English and Urdu (written and spoken) is required. Working knowledge of Pashto is an asset.
